my vacation’s finally O-V-E-R

Things I learned about this low cost (I spent less than $600, all in) jet setting ish:

  1. Book your plane tickets early. We got our round trip MNL-Ho Chi Minh City tickets from PAL a month before our travel date. I got their tickets for PhP 7,8something while I got mine for PhP 9,6something. The difference: I booked theirs past midnight while I booked mine during business hours.
  2. Travel light. If you’re not crossing borders via plane, skip the posh luggages and bring those mountaineering backpacks (I made a mental post-it to check ‘em out once I get back. I never thought they’d be that expensivo! 8O). It’ll be a pain to lug those wheeled babies back and forth while getting your passport stamped. :x
  3. Skip the mini cabs and opt for the big ones. The big (think popular “lines” of cabs here in MNL) ones’re more familiar going around the city. No difference in cost. We learned this the hard way.
  4. Have fun! Lots and lots and lots of it! Laugh at the silliest things and don’t get iff’ed about road blocks. Bitch your heart out if you’re paying $250 a night. Otherwise, learn how to bend and compromise with the situation. ;)
